2010: The Year of Empowerment
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.
Acts 1:8
Jesus wanted to make sure that His disciples were fully equipped to do the ministry He had called them to do. That would require power beyond anything they could produce in themselves. He commanded them to wait in Jerusalem until they received power for the promised Holy Spirit. Every work in the kingdom of God must be performed through the working of the Holy Spirit in and through our lives. God has chosen to empower us for His work.
Empowered to Live
We have been given personal victory over sin

Empowered to Serve
We have been given the power to share the life of Jesus Christ.
"For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give his life a ransom for many."

We have been empowered to share the gospel of Christ "to the ends of the earth."
"For the Son of man came to seek and save what was lost."
